Between 2011 and 2018, she was a visiting professor at many different universities, including the Summer University in Aarhus (Denmark) and in Sofia (Bulgaria) with the lecture “Sustainable Development and National Strategies” and the School of Science and Technology in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the lecture “Digitalisation & Sustainability”.

Since 2012, Ms Barbian has been advising companies from the mechanical and plant engineering, logistics and software sectors as well as healthcare providers on their path to becoming a sustainable company. She has both technical and IT industry expertise.

Her research areas include sustainable digitalisation, technological sustainability, strategies for climate neutrality, sharing economy, energy and resource efficiency, circular economy, resilience research in global systemic supply networks, cyber-physical systems and interdisciplinary interface topics from the fields of production, logistics, digitalisation and sustainability.
